2023 Class Information
I know what you’re thinking, planning for 2023 already? Yes, it is that time! Quick heads up that an email will go out to all parents mid-October with 2023 class information. We know we have a lot of organised parents who are already planning ahead and would like to sort their class for next year, there’s no need to worry! We have everything sorted for you. Your child’s class will simply roll over to 2023, but there are always reasons that things need to shift, here are a few examples… If your question isn’t answered here, hold tight, we will be able to help you out!

Has your child passed their skill level or reached the maximum age for their class?
If your child needs to change classes because their current class is no longer suitable, due to their age or skill level, you will receive a phone call from one of our amazing Twisters staff to let you know, and help you find a different class. Miss the call, no worries, we will send you a follow up email.

Do you need to change your class for 2023 due to your schedule?
If your child’s current class is still suitable but you need to change your 2023 class due to changes in your schedule, you can do so at the end of the year. During this period, our classes will be closed off to non-Twisters members so that all of our current members have the opportunity to find a class that suits best. Don’t forget that you are more than welcome to change classes at any time, it is just dependent on availability.

Is your child booked into Tiny Tornadoes or a daytime Badge & Stars class and going to school in 2023?
For our Tiny Tornadoes enrolments and daytime Badge & Stars classes, if your child is starting school, you are welcome to keep your current enrolment going through January whilst your child is not at school and then make a shift once they start. Twisters will put together a Google Form that you’ll need to fill out in order for us to allocate you with your desired after school class if you want to move there immediately.

2022 Competitive Season
Huge shoutout to the Twisters Northcote gymnasts who competed in the 2022 AGC Competition season. These gymnasts have been working towards competitions for over 2 years and have persevered through lockdowns, cancelled events and endless hours of Zoom training.
We are so proud of the technical excellence and beautiful routines these gymnasts displayed at competitions, but more importantly we are proud of their positive attitude, support of each other, and strength of character when dealing with disappointment.
Special congratulations to Anthea Kalathas for being selected to compete in the Pro League event and placing 5th all around at the Victorian Championships!

Pillars of Inclusion
Our Inclusion Coordinator, alongside our coaches, developed our inclusion pillars. How? Our coaches shared what inclusion means to them, and out of all of the beautiful ideas, it was clear that there are three key themes, which brought our pillars to life. These are used by all of our staff to insure inclusivity is incorporated in all of our classes and throughout our facilities. Here is what they came up with:

Child Supervision
We are noticing an increase in children and siblings in our common areas (foyers and mezzanine) that are not under any parent supervision. Unfortunately, this is leading to injuries, extra pressure on our staff and in some cases, vandalism.
Once your child is inside the gym for class, you are not required to sit and wait, however, before and after classes, children need to be supervised in our common areas. Or if you choose to sit and wait with your athletes siblings, please ensure you’re keeping an eye on them the entire time to avoid this mishaps.
In regards to gymnastics, it belongs inside the gym, not in our foyer areas or on the mezzanine. Please ensure you watch your child and ask them to wait until class starts to practise their skills.
The entire Twisters Team thanks you for helping!

Gymnast of the Month
Congratulations to our September Gymnasts of the Month!

Northcote GoM | Asher

Coach Julia nominated Asher, here is what she had to say…
Asher has been in my class since the beginning of this year, and her progress in that time has been nothing short of amazing. Due to her hard work and commitment, her coordination and overall gymnastics ability have greatly increased. I feel that she has also come out of her shell quite a lot! Asher has become confident in herself and each week achieves a skill that in the past she may have been hesitant to attempt. Overall, Asher has done a fantastic job this past year and it has been a pleasure to coach her! I am very proud!

I nominated Claire because she comes to gymnastics each week with a big smile and is always happy and ready to try anything new. She is an excellent listener and always tries her best, even when something is new or out of her comfort zone. Claire asks questions and takes on feedback so well that she is absolutely smashing her new skills and improving every week. She has improved massively in the past couple of months due to her hard work and commitment and is always so kind to everyone around her. I can’t wait to see how well she will continue to progress and all the new skills she will be able to achieve with her hard work and can-do attitude!

Torquay GoM | Mia

Coach Grace and Sarah nominated Mia, here’s what he had to say…
Grace and myself are nominating Mia for Gymnast of the Month because when Mia first started her lessons at Twisters she was so shy she stayed with her mum for the whole lesson. She worked very hard every week to build up the confidence to spend more and more of the lessons without her mum helping in the class. Now Mia skips into class with no worries. She has made some great friends in the class and her gymnastics is also improving every week. Mia is even getting up the courage to jump into the airbag!! Well done Mia, keep up the great work!
