Head Knocks Awareness
With the increasing awareness of head knocks and the potential for ongoing effects, we have updated our procedures around how we manage head knocks in the gym. We take all head knocks seriously as it is not possible for us to determine what constitutes a serious head knock. Our staff have been trained in symptoms of concussion and have access to a quick guide poster inside the gym to remind them of what to look for. However, because it is not always clear cut, responsible adult permission is required for gymnasts to continue in class after any head knock. Naturally, we will not allow anyone to continue if they are displaying symptoms of concussion. Where the child has no physical or cognitive symptoms of a serious head knock/concussion, it will be up to the guardian to determine whether the child is allowed to continue to participate. This means that you must be contactable at all times when your child is at Twisters. Ensuring that you have more than one adult listed on your account can assist with this. Children who suffer from a head knock will sit out of class until their responsible adult is contacted.
You Asked, We Listened!
In response to recent NPS feedback regarding cleaning procedures at our Northcote centre, we wish to take this moment to share some updates to our cleaning practices.
Our Member Experience team has recently received new cleaning procedures, including extensive checklists to ensure no space goes unchecked. This will support our team by having dedicated space within their shifts to check over important spaces such as bathrooms, doors & windows, our mezzanine, emptying bins, tidying the floors via vacuuming and much more. Twisters also has hired cleaning services visiting our Northcote site multiple times a week to support the cleanliness of our busy centre.
Parent Surveys
We truly value the feedback we have been receiving through our surveys sent to you via email. When you do receive a survey, we kindly ask that you take the 1 to 2 minutes to complete it, and please be open and honest with your feedback regarding our venues and our coaches. Surveys are distributed in batches to ensure we can thoroughly review each response. We sincerely appreciate your responses to these surveys!
That’s A Wrap!
Congratulations to all of our gymnasts and ninjas for completing our mid-year Progress Checks over the previous fortnight!
If your child has completed their skill level during this round of Progress Checks, what happens next is simple: you will receive an automated evaluation email from our system listing the achieved skills and a certificate that you’re able to download and print if you wish to. This will be sent after our makeup progress check fortnight.
We missed progress checks, now what?
We have a few makeup progress check dates scheduled during this week and next. Sessions are first-come, first-serve. To book yourself into a makeup session:
– Login to your Parent Portal account.
– Go to Bookings, Find a class, then select your student, filter classes by program makeup progress checks.
– Select your preferred day and time, ensure it is suitable for your child. For example, ninja testing for your child who does NinjaGym and follow the prompts.
Why has my child only passed a few skills?
If your child was away for both of our progress check weeks, unfortunately, they will have missed out on some of their progress checks. Don’t worry! Your child can attend our next progress check sessions or you can book into a makeup session during this week and next.
How long will it take for my child to pass their skill level?
During each progress check period, kids are working towards approximately half of their colour level skills. For beginners, we expect that it will take kids a year to complete the skill level. For intermediate a year, to a year and a half. For advanced, we expect it to take a year and a half to two years to accomplish all skills on their poster.
Northcote Car Park Reminder
A quick reminder to please only park in our marked Twisters car spaces. Our undercroft is a drop off/pick up zone only, for after school and weekend hours. Now that the cold, darker weather is in full swing, please consider your fellow Twisters attendees by using the drop off/pick up zone wisely so that everyone can be dropped off close to the door.
If you intend to stay for longer than 5-minutes we kindly ask that you find a spot for your car outside of the undercroft, or park on Beavers Road, or surrounding streets. During our daytime Tiny Tornadoes classes, parents are welcome to park in the undercroft car spots. We really appreciate your help with this!
🌟Core Value Coach Award🌟
Congratulations to the following coaches for being the April winners of the Core Value Coach Awards!
NORTHCOTE – Coach Amy was awarded for the core value of ‘We Make Our Mates Better!’. Amy is great with communication, following procedures and doing things the Twisters way, which helps things run smoothly. Amy was recently given the opportunity to step up and lead her own classes and took it on with great enthusiasm!
SHOWGROUNDS – Coach Grace was awarded for the core value of ‘We Make Our Mates Better’. Grace is always willing to help out fellow coaches and has been super helpful at covering classes, even willing to coach classes outside of program that she would normally coach, and always with the same level of energy and enthusiasm she brings to her own classes.
TORQUAY – Coach Kirra was award for the core value of ‘Be Curious and Brave’. Kirra has taken many covers over the previous month that have included classes she hasn’t taught before. She has risen to each and every challenge those classes have presented her with and has learnt lot’s of new skills along the way! We love her inquisitive nature and her willingness to give new things a go!

I’ve nominated Jaylen for consistently displaying a positive attitude and for always making our makes his mates better. He’s so open to every activity and is always keen to demonstrate and help those around him with the skills, making everyone feel valued and welcomed. For the past term I’ve watched his confidence and skill level grow as he continuously works hard on all activities.
