NEW Showgrounds classes!
We are excited to announce that we have opened up more classes at Showgrounds! We are now running Friday afternoon Badge & Stars classes. To check out the timetable and get your child enrolled, you can head here.

TeamGFA classes at Northcote!
We love being able to offer the TeamGFA program at our Northcote venue. But a lot of people might not know what it’s all about… So let us give you a very quick run-down! TeamGFA is a tumbling-based program that combines tumbling, trampoline, acrobatics and a group floor performance.

TeamGFA gymnasts will work on their skills throughout the year with the aim of putting together team routines across 4 apparatus, and teams even compete at numerous competitions throughout the year (which makes this class a great option of any kid looking to get some competition experience)!

This program is a fantastic option for any of our current recreational gymnasts (between 9 and 14 years) to develop their floor, tumbling and acrobatics skills in a fun and supportive team environment! But it’s not limited to our existing members, we welcome gymnasts of all abilities to join this wonderful program, so if you know anyone, please help us to spread the word!

For more information and to get your child booked, simply start here!

Important Change | Make-Up Tokens and Holiday Programs
A heads up that using make-up tokens to cover the cost of holiday programs and workshops has come to an end. Now that lockdowns are a thing of the past, and families have been able to get their makeup token levels back down, we are moving back to the use of tokens for alternate classes only.

Please note that make-up tokens have a 90-day expiry (starting from the date it’s issued). Please keep this in mind when you’re mulling over a make-up session.

We really encourage families to put through their child’s absences in advance. To do this, you can use the Parent Portal, our app (download ‘the iClassPro App’ from your app shop, then use ‘twistersgym’ as your organisation — make sure to put it in exactly like that, otherwise you may end up with a Canadian location) or get in touch with the office for help! Our classes are quite full at the moment, but if we know that we have an upcoming absence, other parents will be able to use that spot for a make-up while you’re away!

Extreme Heat Policy at Torquay
Torquay parents, please keep a look out for a heat policy email coming your way or you can check out the policy on our website here! As Torquay is our only facility without air conditioning, things will work a little differently for you when we experience days of extreme heat…

Parking Reminder for Northcote Parents
As we start the new year, and have welcomed lots of new families on board, we want to give you a friendly reminder about parking at our Northcote facility. In your welcome email, you would have been directed to our Transport Management policy, this is a very important document and we would appreciate that if you haven’t already, that you give it a read through.

Unfortunately, we continue to have issues with the council and our neighbours in regards to parking at our Northcote facility, so we really appreciate everyone helping us out in this regard. Here are a few important highlights to keep in mind…
👉 If you are planning to stay at Twisters for more than 5 minutes, please park in one of our unlimited parking spots, or out along Beavers Road and walk into the gym.
👉 Parking labelled as ‘5 minute zones’ must be respected and left available for other patrons to pick up and drop off their children.
👉 To help with our parking situation and to avoid congestion inside of our venues, particularly Northcote, we work with staggered class times. Why? We want to ensure we have parking spaces available and a clear foyer area for when the next lot of parents and gymnasts arrive! We simply ask that you avoid arriving more than 5 minutes early for your child’s class or hang around for more than 5 minutes after your child’s class (unless of course, you are waiting for a sibling or something along those lines!). This will help us with congestion inside the venue and outside in our carpark.

We really appreciate your help with this, and we know other parents will appreciate your consideration too!

April Holiday Programs
We have already had a number of parents enquiring about our next holiday program timetable — we do our best to change over the schedule within the week following the previous school holidays. So, our April timetable for Northcote and Showgrounds are live! Torquay, as soon as we have coaches locked in for our intended dates, we will make sure to get your timetable out too!
You can get started here, and please check back soon for a list of Northcote activities if this is something you like to know ahead of time.

Child Safety Corner
Social media has drastically changed over the past years, here at Twisters, we follow the Gymnastics Australia guidelines for child safety surrounding social media. If you’d like, you can read more about those guidelines here.
For us, social media covers Facebook, Instagram, and our squad communication tool, Slack. What’s most important to note is that our coaches will not communicate with any gymnast individually. All communication is directed at parents and the group as a whole. We ask gymnasts not to try to contact coaches via social media, they’re not permitted to respond.

Important Dates
👉 February 1st | monthly membership fees will be charged

Maggie really deserves the Gymnast of the Month award because we have all seen a tremendous amount of improvement in class. Maggie has shown a great amount of bravery throughout the 2022 classes. She shows up to every class and gives it a go even if she’s nervous! In every zone she goes through, she is willing to try and learn!
